See how your page will look in Google's results

Type in a page title, meta description and URL and see them laid out the way they would appear in a search engine results page (SERP), so you can spot a title that gets cut off before anyone searching ever sees it.

How-To Guide

Preview your Google listing with the SERP Snippet Previewer

The SERP Snippet Previewer shows you how a page's title and meta description will actually appear on a Google results page, including where the text is likely to get cut off. It's for anyone writing or editing these two fields who wants to see the effect before publishing. Google's own cut-off point varies by device and font, so treat the preview as a close estimate.

Best for: Anyone editing a page's title or meta description before it goes live

  1. Enter your title and description

Paste in the page title and meta description you're planning to use, or the ones already live on a page.

  2. Check the preview against the cut-off points

Look at where the title or description gets marked as too long, since Google shortens text based on its own pixel width.

  3. Rewrite for clarity and click-through

Adjust the wording so the clearest part of each line lands before the cut-off point, since this is what shapes your click-through rate (CTR), the share of people who see the listing and click it.

Enter a title tag, meta description and URL to see roughly how the result may look in Google search, on desktop and mobile. Widths are measured in pixels, not just characters, so you can see exactly where a search engine is likely to cut the text off with an ellipsis.

This tool cannot see:

  • How Google actually renders your result today: fonts, spacing and pixel limits change without notice, so this is a close approximation, not a guarantee.
  • Rich results such as star ratings, sitelinks, images, FAQ drop downs or knowledge panel data.
  • Whether your page will actually rank or be indexed at all.
  • Any data from your site, Search Console or Google's servers. Everything here runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.

See how your page will actually look in Google's results

The SERP Snippet Previewer shows the title and description a searcher sees before they click, laid out at the width Google currently gives each line. Type in your page title and meta description and watch where the text gets cut off, so you can tighten the wording before the page goes live. Google sometimes rewrites what you give it anyway, so treat the result as a close preview rather than a guarantee.
